The stamp of Confucius Institute in Vienna – the first stamp of a Confucius Institute world wide
On the 3rd of December 2009, the Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna was invited to a ceremony in the ballroom of the corporate head office of the post office of Austria.
There were three occasions for this successful ceremony in the pleasant atmosphere of the old post office:
In the official speech the dean of Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna (CIUV), Prof. Richard Trappl was delighted to announce the three-year anniversary of CIUV. On this occasion the CIUV issued its first stamp with 300 copies. In this stamp the building of the CIUV surrounded by the beautiful campus was presented, which has meanwhile become the symbol of the CIUV . Furthermore the CIUV had successfully organized its 100th event since the founding of the institute. Hence the ceremony was a very important event for all friends of CIUV, who showed up many in number. The ballhall was full to overflowing and additional seats had to be provided.
Dr. Haas from the philately in the name of the post office, and the counselor in Culture Department of the Chinese Embassy Mr. Jia Jianxin, as the representative for the Chinese Embassy, gave a speech. Among the guests there were not only friends of CIUV, but also many philatelists, who took the chance to receive an exemplar for their collection.
Everybody agreed that this ceremony was an appropriate appreciation for the CIUV and for all, who contributed to the success of the CIUV.
