Scholarship for International Chinese Language Education

at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU)

 

In order to give full play to the role of Confucius Institutes in talent cultivation, strengthen the cultivation of international talents, and promote international exchanges and cooperation, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) has established a special scholarship for international Chinese language education.

 

I. Scholarship Fee and Quota

The scholarship is only used to support the tuition fee for one semester or one academic year (two semesters) of study at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). In principle, the amount of funding per student shall not exceed RMB 12,000 per semester.

 

II. Eligible Applicants

Students of Confucius Institutes and students of foreign partner universities;

Students who meet the eligibility requirements of the Admission Regulations for International Students of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), details of which can be found at the following website: osao.bfsu.edu.cn/info/1042/1956.htm

 

III. Application Period

Scholarship application deadline: 11 October 2024

 

IV. Please send the following application materials to the email address: konfuzius-institut@univie.ac.at

1. Application form for BFSU International Chinese Language Education Scholarships

2. Scanned copy of the photo page of your passport

3. Recommendation letter from the person in charge of the Confucius Institute (1 letter)

4. Recommendation letters from tutors with the title of associate professor or above (2 letters)

5. Proof of highest academic qualification or proof of enrolment in the program

 

V. Application Procedure

Students who are interested in applying for the scholarship should submit their application materials to the Confucius Institute, which will conduct the preliminary examination of the application materials. Students who have already received tuition scholarships are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. The Confucius Institute will submit the application materials of those who have passed the preliminary examination to the Office of Confucius Institute at BFSU for final examination. The Office of Confucius Institute will notify the relevant Confucius Institutes of the final results, and the Confucius Institutes will notify the applicants of the final results.

 

VI. Special Notes

1. Scholarship eligibility is not equivalent to the acceptance letter of BFSU. Only those who are accepted by Beijing Foreign Studies University are eligible for this scholarship. In general, the scholarship status is reserved for one year.

2. The Scholarship for International Chinese Language Education is not granted directly to the students, but the Confucius Institute at BFSU coordinates with the relevant departments to handle the payment of tuition fees for the scholarship recipients. Awarded students shall apply for the payment of the scholarship at the Office of Confucius Institute with the notification of scholarship award and the proof of enrollment.

3. The applicant is responsible for the authenticity of the materials provided, and the applicant himself/herself shall bear the negative consequences in case of any falsification.
